Mus. 385

Manuscript. [Giovanni Paolo] Fusetti, 'Cum invocarem' for 4 voices, 2 violins and continuo. Score; copyist unidentified, presumably Italian, late 17th century.

Oblong format, 303 x 147 mm. Collation unclear because of the tightness of the binding, but apparently two single sheets (ff. 1-2), each mounted on a guard, followed by a single gathering of 7 nested bifolios (ff. 3-16); 16 folios in total. Foliation is modern. Early 20th-century binding of stiff cardboard and vellum; no trace remains of any earlier binding. No early bookplate. 19th-century shelfmark: I.4.97.

Provenance: from the Aldrich bequest, first listed in Dowding (main hand), item M.4.3, as part of the following entry: 'Anthems viz. Cum Invocarem &c. In te Domine speravi. Exurgite Mortales, &c. & a Magnificat all with Instrumts del Revdo. P. Fusetti. M.S. in score. look well.' (See below for the other manuscripts to which this entry refers.) The shelfmark 'M.4.3' is absent from Mus. 385 itself, suggesting that an earlier binding or wrapper has been removed.

Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 48.
