Mus. 684

Manuscript. [Giovanni] P[aolo] Fusetti, 'Dixit Dominus' for 4 voices, 2 violins and continuo. Score; copyist unidentified, presumably Italian, late 17th century.

Oblong format, 313 x 245 mm. 23 folios; collation unclear on account of the tightness of the binding. The foliation is modern. Contemporary binding of thick grey card, now within an early 20th-century binding of red fabric over boards, half bound. The original upper cover is annotated 'Dixit Dominus a6 ... di Fusetti' by an unidentified contemporary hand, not that of the music copyist. (For related manuscripts in an identical binding, see Mus. 1073 and (with a similarly annotated cover) Mus. 1110.) Shelfmark 'H.53' written in ink on outside original upper cover (see below). Bookplate 2. Formerly K.2.56.

Provenance uncertain, but probably from the Aldrich bequest, together with other manuscripts copied by this scribe (see below). First recorded in an early Christ Church catalogue by Hind in Archives 1717, where it is listed at position H53 as 'Dixit Dominus &c. dell' P. Fusetti. M.S.'; the shelfmark 'H.53' on the outside original upper cover is in Hind's handwriting.

Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 49.
