Mus. 1142b (f. 51)

Manuscript. Part of a Latin ode beginning 'Nunc juvat doctas referare portas', copied by Sampson Estwick, and probably his autograph. English, early 18th century.

Oblong format, 487 x 380 mm. Single sheet, folded twice vertically. Bound into Mus. 1142b, an early 20th-century guardbook of stiff card and vellum. No early bookplate.

Provenance: presumably from either the Aldrich or Goodson bequest. Formerly shelved within the Portfolios at position I.2.ε; the reference 'I.2.ε' is written on f. 51r. In Havergal Summary, it was included under the summary heading of '5 odes in English, 4 in Latin'.

Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 38.
