Mus. 320-3
Dering, Richard, ca. 1580-1630 Grove DNB

RISM A/I D1320
Mus. 320: Canto; Mus. 321: Alto; Mus. 322: Basso; Mus. 323: Basso continuo.
Lacks: Canto II.

Provenance: from the Aldrich bequest, listed in Archives 1717, item K7, as 'Derings four parts', qualified in Dowding (main hand) as 'Antw. 1620'. The entry in Dowding has been annotated by Havergal as 'Tenor missing', but this is in error; the missing partbook is Canto II.

Oblong format, 203 x 162 mm. Early C17th stab-binding of thin grey paper. On the original upper wrapper of each partbook, an unidentified English hand, mid C17th, has written 'Deringes 4. Partes', followed by the voice-name; for other sets of partbooks in the collection annotated by the same hand, see below. Bookplate 2 in Mus. 320 only. C19th shelfmarks: I.7.94-7; formerly Mus. 592-5.

Microfilm: The printed music of Christ Church, Oxford, reel 14.
