Provenance: from Aldrich bequest, listed in Archives 1717, item I12, as 'Sr Rich: Diringe's Songs', to which a later hand has added '5 Books'. In Dowding (main hand) this is expanded to 'Canzonette à 4. voc. Antw. 1620'. Oblong format, 205 x 163 mm. C17th wrappers of thick grey paper, now within early C20th bindings of limp vellum with ties. On the original upper wrapper of Mus. 293, an unidentified hand, probably C17th, has written 'Basso Continue a4 Voci', above which Malchair has added 'Diringus 1620'. Bookplate 2 in Mus. 289 only.
