Probably part of the repertory of the Oxford city/university waits or 'musick'. The copyist/composer, who has not been identified, is here designated as Copyist 'Z'; he was also responsible for other autograph scores and/or sets of performing parts within the Christ Church collection. The two movements copied here are the second and third movements of the work now designated as the set in e minor/II (1-4); performing parts for the complete work are copied in Mus. 1140, sheets 5-10, as item 8. Cut from a larger sheet, the remainder of which has not been identified elsewhere. Bound into Mus. 1141d, an early 20th-century guardbook of stiff card and vellum.
