Manuscript. Unidentified 'Solo for a Flute' in six movements; performing parts for flute and continuo, copied by James Talbot. English, late C17th.

Upright format, 323 x 200 mm. Two nested bifolios; the flute part (ff. 2 and 5) encloses the 'Violone' part (ff. 3-4). In each case, music was written on the inside pages of the bifolio only (ff. 2v and 5, 3v and 4); the outside pages are unused ruled staves. Bound into Mus. 1141a, an early 20th-century guardbook of stiff card and vellum. No early bookplate.

Provenance: almost certainly from the Aldrich bequest, together with other music copied by James Talbot.
