Mus. 1141a (ff. 12-14)Manuscript. Complete set of three performers' parts for three movements in different keys, all scored for two trebles and bass; English, probably early 18th century. Probably part of the repertory of the Oxford city/university waits or 'musick'; for further details, see the entry for Mus. 34-6. The copyist of these performers' parts has not been identified; he is here designated as 'Copyist W'.
The three movements also exist in scores, copied by two other
unidentified copyist/composers designated as 'X' and 'Y'. They
are copied in the following order:
Upright format, 296 x 221 mm. Three single leaves; f. 12: [First Treble]; f. 13: [Second Treble]; f. 14: [(unfigured) Bass]. Music has been copied only on the recto of each leaf; unused ruled staves on the versos. Bound into Mus. 1141a, an early 20th-century guardbook of stiff card and vellum. No early bookplate. Provenance: probably from the Goodson bequest, together with all other manuscripts related to Mus. 34-6 (q.v.).
