Mus. 1141a (ff. 10-11)

Manuscript. Fair copy in score of a three-movement suite or 'set' in C major; English, probably early 18th century. Probably part of the repertory of the Oxford city/university waits or 'musick'. The copyist/composer, who has not been identified, is here designated as Copyist 'Y'; he was also responsible for other autograph scores and/or sets of performing parts within the Christ Church collection. For further details, see the entry for Mus. 34-6.

This is the only known source of the suite or 'set' designated as C major/X (1-3). Its three movements are here copied in the following order: movement '1': f. 10r; movement '2': ff. 11r-v; movement '3': f. 10v.

Bifolio, upright format, 330 x 206 mm. Mounted on a guard, and bound into Mus. 1141a, an early 20th-century guardbook of stiff card and vellum. No early bookplate.

Provenance: probably from the Goodson bequest, together with all other manuscripts related to Mus. 34-6 (q.v.).

Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 38.
