Upright format, 265 x 207 mm.

  • Mus. 409: 47 folios, of which the first 17 are foliated in modern pencil. Collation: A4 (ff. 1-4), B4 (ff. 5-8), C4 (ff. 9-12; f. 12v is a pasteover cancel), etc. Unused ruled staves on f. 1r, and from f.17v to the end.
  • Mus. 410: 48 folios, unfoliated. Collation: A4, B4, C4, D4, E4, etc. Unused ruled staves on f. [1r], and from f.[17v] to the end.
'Aldrich binding' Type 2. The spines are gold-tooled 'FANT / A / 2.B'. Bookplate 2 in both partbooks. 19th-century shelfmarks: I.5.19-20.

Provenance: from the Aldrich bequest; listed in Dowding (main hand) at position N.1.2 as 'Fancies / MS. in 2 parts'. In Mus. 409-10 itself, the shelfmark 'N.2' is written on the front flyleaf of each partbook.
