Nine single sheets, all upright format, 330 x 215 mm. Foliation was added in August 1998, and will not be visible in microfilms made before that date. Music on rectos only; the versos are unused ruled staves (f. 4v is annotated 'Gloria Patri J: Jackson').

Several sheets show signs of having been folded twice horizontally. Each sheet is now pasted to a guard, and mounted impermanently on cords within an early 20th-century folder of stiff card and vellum. No early bookplate. Formerly Mus. 1142.

Provenance unknown. Not recorded in any early catalogue until Havergal Summary, where it is listed among the Portfolios at position I.2.β, item 3: '2 [motets by] J. Jackson. (9 sheets) MS.'; in Mus. 1201 itself, the portfolio reference 'I.2.β' is written in red crayon at the head of each sheet.
