Mus. 989

Manuscript. Alessandro Scarlatti, Il Flavio Cuniberto (opera in three acts; later version, as performed at the Villa Medicea, Pratolino, in September 1702). Copied by two unidentified Italian scribes, early 18th century.

Oblong format, 275 x 215 mm. 130 folios, unfoliated. Collation not ascertained because of the tightness of the binding. Early 18th-century binding of mottled brown leather over boards, blind-tooled with fillets and small ornaments. Bookplate 2. 19th-century shelfmark: G.1.

Provenance unknown. Not listed in any of the early Christ Church catalogues until the entry by Hind (in Dowding), where it appears at position P8 as 'Il Flavio Cuniberto. by Scarlatti. M.S.'; in Mus. 989 itself, the shelfmark 'P.8' is written in ink in Hind's hand on the front flyleaf.

Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 56.
