Purcell'; f. 8: 'Second book of Harmonia Sacra - from the / best masters. London 1653 H. Purcell / D Purcell / King / Blow / Clark et caet / a Vol. worth looking into / half bound in white boards Vell. Back & corners. Carissimi'. Mention of this volume is made by Goodson Jr in an annotation on the original outside lower cover of Mus. 1177: 'Mrs Knight by [?ha]nd / Lent Mr Blacket of S Johns / the schore book of / Harmonia Sacra'.

Upright format, 335 x 210 mm. Early C20th binding incorporating elements of the original early C18th binding (including vellum from its spine). Outside upper cover annotated by Richard Goodson Jr: 'R: Goodson - Christ Church Colledge'. Goodson Jr has also annotated some of the contents (e.g. printed tract 3, p. 40: 'N.B: this is wrote out into one of the Brown Leather Schore Books', referring to the copy in Mus. 23, ff. 76-71). Clement's number-label is missing. No early bookplate. 19th-century shelfmark: K.4.9.
