Manuscript. Dr [John] Blow, anthem 'I beheld, and lo! a great multitude', copied in score; copyist unidentified, English, early 18th century.

Upright format, c. 305 x 237 mm. Originally a single gathering of 6 nested bifolios, = 12 folios. Of these, f.[11] has been excised; the remaining sheets are foliated 1-11 in modern pencil. Retains 18th-century wrappers of thick paper, annotated on the upper outer wrapper by Malchair. No early bookplate. Now bound within an early 20th-century binding of thick card and vellum. 19th-century shelfmark: K.3.87.

Provenance unknown; possibly from the Goodson bequest. The earliest catalogue record of this item is by Hind in Archives 1717, where it is listed at position H50 as 'Anthem by Dr. Blow. Rev. 7. 9'. In Mus.782 itself, the shelfmark 'H 50' is written on f. 1r in Hind's hand.
