Manuscript. John Blow, 'Service in Gamut' (T/B/J, K1/C1/S/G/K2/C2, Ca/D/M/N), autograph score; English, late 17th century.

Upright format, 335 x 220 mm. Single gathering of 18 nested bifolios (= 36 folios). Between ff. [4r] and [36v], the volume has been paginated '1-[66]' by Blow himself. Unused ruled staves on ff. [1r-3v]. Original wrappers of marbled paper remain in place. Bookplate 2. Now sewn into a folder of modern card, and mounted impermanently on a cord within an early 20th-century binding of thick grey card and vellum. 19th-century shelfmark: K.3.85.

Provenance: from the Aldrich bequest, listed in Archives 1717, item H23, as 'Dr Blows Morning Service'. In Mus. 780 itself, the shelfmark 'H.23' is written on the front flyleaf.
