Oblong format, 220 x 175 mm. Early C17th wrappers of grey paper, now within early C20th bindings of limp vellum with ties. Outside original upper wrapper of Mus. 541 annotated 'Peter Philips 6. pts / il 2o libro' by an unidentified C17th hand. Outside original upper and lower wrappers of Mus. 543 annotated 'Bassus' by an unidentified C17th hand. (The contents of this partbook are also annotated with marginal signs and numbers, as if recording the act of copying these pieces into a manuscript.) Shelfmark 'G.9' on outside original upper wrapper of Mus. 539, which also has a label numbered '9' pasted to its titlepage. Bookplate 2 in Mus. 539 only.
