Provenance: from the Aldrich bequest, listed in Archives 1717, item K3, as 'A Set of Music for 4 voices', and in Dowding (main hand) as 'Archadelt's Collection of Madrigals à 4 voc. Venice 1585'. Oblong format, 205 x 148 mm. Late C16th binding of limp vellum, stubs of green-and-yellow ties on three sides, gold-tooled on upper and lower covers with part-names enclosed within horizontal rules.
