Mus. 1188-9 (f. 19)

Manuscript. Two fragments copied in score by Henry Aldrich, possibly both composing scores. English, late 17th century.

  • f. 19: fragment of an unidentified five-part textless (vocal?) work in composing score.
  • f. 19v: a three-voice setting of the Doxology, in a metrical translation beginning 'To the Father & the Son / & the sperit three & one'.

Oblong format, 485 x 187 mm. Single sheet, folded vertically and pasted to a guard. No early bookplate. Now bound within Mus. 1188-9, an early 20th-century guardbook of stiff card and vellum.

Provenance unknown; presumably transmitted in the company of other Aldrich fragments now bound into Mus. 1188-9.

Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 39.
