Mus. 1153

Manuscript. Chorus (opening 'Yee Vocal Choir whom sacred love of Harmony') from an unidentified ode for St Cecilia's Day. Score, incomplete, copied by Richard Goodson Jr. English, early 18th century.

Upright format, 327 x 210 mm. Four nested bifolios (ff. 2-9) preceded by a single sheet (f. 1) pasted to the front. Notations on f. 9v appear to be pen-trials. Foliation is modern; the first three folios are paginated '1-6' in Goodson Jr's hand. No early bookplate. Stitched into a modern card folder, and mounted impermanently on a cord within an early 20th century folder of stiff card and vellum.

Provenance: presumably from the Goodson bequest. Formerly shelved within the Portfolios at position I.2.ε; the reference ' I.2.ε' is written in red crayon on f. 1r. In Havergal Summary, it was included under the summary heading of '5 odes in English, 4 in Latin'.Formerly I.2.ε.

Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 38.
