Mus. 1142a (ff. 23-8)
Manuscript. Fragments from a Latin ode (or odes) by Richard Goodson
Sr, in composing score; English, c. 1700.
- ff. 24-24*: opening of the ode 'Io triumphe'. Bifolio, mounted
on a guard; the right-hand leaf (f. 24*) has largely been torn
away.
- f. 23: chorus 'O Diva chordas tangere', apparently from the same
ode. Single leaf, mounted on a guard. Unused ruled staves on
verso.
- ff. 25-8: further fragments, apparently from the same ode. Probably
two bifolios, nested. Unused ruled staves on ff. 27v-28r.
Upright format, 285 x 187 mm. Foliation of f. 24* added in August
1998. Now bound into Mus. 1142a, an early 20th-century guardbook
of stiff card and vellum. No early bookplate.
Provenance: presumably from the Goodson bequest, but not recorded
in any catalogue of the Christ Church collections before the
20th century.
Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 38.
