Mus. 1141b (ff. 105-10)Manuscript. Keyboard score for [John Blow], ode ['Gesta Britannica'], in two sections, 'Non arma regum' and 'Dum pulsa strident timpana', here unattributed and designated only as '1st Song' and '2d Song'; the music is written on on two staves, the upper stave giving violin or voice parts. Copied by Richard Goodson Sr; English, late 17th century. Upright format, 375 x 243 mm. Three nested bifolios; 6 folios in total. Bound into Mus. 1141b, an early 20th-century guardbook of stiff card and vellum. No early bookplate. Provenance unknown. Formerly shelved within the Portfolios at position I.2.ε; the reference 'I.2.ε' is written on f. 105r. In Havergal Summary, it was included under the summary heading of '5 odes in English, 4 in Latin'. Microfilm: manuscript music, reel 38. This keyboard score presumably derives from Blow's autograph score, Mus. 685-6. Violin parts for this work now at Mus. 1141b (ff. 101-4) were presumably formerly nested within the keyboard score.
