Manuscript. Sarum missal; English, early 15th century. The Calendar refers to the church of St Botolph 'extra aldgate', linking the book with one of two medieval London parish churches, St Botolph extra Aldersgate or St Botolph iuxta Aldgate.

Upright format, 420 x 285 mm. Vellum; 283 surviving folios; the majority of the decorated pages are now missing. 15th-century binding of white leather over wooden boards, formerly chained.

Provenance: probably the missal donated to Christ Church in 1614 by Thomas Edwards (chancellor to John King, Bishop of London).
